For the two weeks I've been using the Quip toothbrush after I came across an ad on Snapchat. Although the Quip toothbrush has been out on the market for quite a while now, I've never truly been interested in trying out the brush. Simply because I'm too faithful to my sonic toothbrush. That being said I've put all my bias aside and I've approached the quip toothbrush from a neutral perspective and these are my thoughts after using the Quip toothbrush for two weeks.
What is the Quip toothbrush?
The Quip toothbrush is a simple, compact, lightweight and battery operated electric toothbrush. It offers a convenient brush head refill plan and it's arguably one of the most affordable electric toothbrushes out on the market.
What are the features of the Quip toothbrush?
Like many other electric toothbrushes, the quip comes with a 2 minute timer and quad interval indicator. The brush will stop vibrating for a fraction of a second every 30 seconds to let you know when it's time to move to the next quad of your mouth. The intent of this feature is to ensure that you're spending the right amount of time on each part of your mouth. I find this to be an useful feature for my patient's who I know don't spend the right amount of time (2 minutes) brushing their teeth.
it comes with a suction mirror mouth that can conveniently be used as a travel cover. This perk in addition to the brush's light weight and compactness makes it extremely easy to travel with. I would say this is my favorite feature of the quip toothbrush.
The quip toothbrush has an optional, but convenient brush head refill plan. Having this active will allow you to receive a new brush head right to your door every 3 months. I strongly suggest that you have this refill plan active to ensure that you're changing your brush head every 3 months. I've found that most of my patients do NOT change their brush head every 3 months like they are supposed to, so having this on will hopefully make it easier for you to remember to change your brush head.
Affordability! the brush starts at $25 dollars, as I mentioned earlier this one of the most affordable electric toothbrushes.
What do I ultimately think about the Quip toothbrush?
I personally think the quip toothbrush is a good toothbrush, it's affordable, light weight, compact and travel friendly. However, in my opinion the quip doesn't and can't be compared to other types of electric toothbrushes such as sonic and oscillating because they function and are used differently. Unlike other electric toothbrushes, the quip toothbrush has to be used just like a regular toothbrush because the vibrations it makes are not strong enough to acceptably remove plaque from the teeth, so you're required to use mechanical action to thoroughly remove all the plaque from your teeth. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though because for some of my patients, sonic and oscillating toothbrushes are just too strong and hard for them, so they like the quip's delicate vibration.
If you're in the market for an electric toothbrush that doesn't vibrate too hard on your teeth and is affordable, then the quip toothbrush is a good entry-level electric toothbrush!
If you enjoyed this Quip toothbrush review, we would appreciate it if you shared it with your friends and family. It only takes 30 seconds of your time and it helps us out a lot. Thanks!
